Can You Bring a Character.AI Character to Tendera? What Works in 2026

First, decide what you actually want to keep

A long conversation is more than a character profile. It may contain the character's voice, your shared story, details about you, and moments that matter for reasons a data file cannot explain. Before opening another app, write down a short version in your own words:

Keep this to a paragraph or two. It is easier to build a consistent new character from a specific description than from an indiscriminate transcript dump.

Character.AI does have memory tools. Its May 2026 product update describes Story Memory and, for c.ai+ subscribers, Facts; it also describes options for carrying Facts into a new chat on Character.AI. Those tools belong to Character.AI. They do not create a connection to Tendera.

Create a character on Tendera

Open the Tendera character creator. If you are signed out, the create button takes you to the login page and sends you back to the creator after login. The three-step flow lets you choose the character's identity, personality, speaking style, and backstory. New characters can stay private. If the character is your original work and you want others to meet them, you can choose to make them public, subject to Tendera's publication review.

Use the backstory for the character's own history and distinctive traits. For example, “a musician” gives the conversation little to work with; a few details about the music they play, the city they left, and the way they react to praise give it more shape. If writing a character is not what you want, browse community characters or meet one of Tendera's four originals. A different character may give you a better start than trying to reproduce one particular chat.

Tendera is also available for iPhone on the App Store and Android on Google Play. Your Tendera account and conversations work across the Web and the apps. The public iPhone and Android versions can differ in specific features, so check the store listing for your device.

What happens to the old conversation?

Nothing transfers automatically. Tendera has no Character.AI login connection, export parser, transcript upload, or memory import. Do not upload an exported archive expecting it to populate a Tendera character.

You can introduce selected context in your own words after starting a new chat: who you are, a shared premise you want to try, or a detail you want the character to know. Tendera uses recent conversation and saved details to support continuity, but memory can miss or misinterpret things. A new character will not remember a relationship that happened elsewhere unless you tell them about it, and even then the conversation may develop differently.

If you want a copy of your Character.AI data for your own records, follow Character.AI's official export instructions. Its help center says an export request may take three to four weeks, and the emailed download link is valid for seven days. That export is useful as a personal archive; it is not a supported Tendera import format.

Keep privacy and ownership in the decision

Use descriptions and images you created or have permission to use. Avoid publishing another creator's character, a copyrighted franchise character, or someone else's private messages as if they were yours. A private Tendera character stays out of the public directory; a public character has a page that other people can visit. Check the visibility choice before publishing and read Tendera's Privacy Policy and Terms if you are bringing sensitive personal details into a new service.

You do not need to promise yourself that the new chat will feel identical. Try a short original description, have a few conversations, and see whether this character's voice is one you want to return to. Create your character, or explore the community first.
